new debian install -- trouble getting online
I'm having some trouble getting online to update and install new
packages with the new Thinkpad. The kernel, 2.4, certainly does
recognize eth0 and ifconfig gives me an IP address (the one I chose on
the Debian install). I've changed the necessary /etc/ppp/ to reflect all
the passwords and usernames for my DSL connection. And yet no
connection.

(Also, ifup eth1 doesn't bring up the WiFi connection). I'm not sure if
it's recognizing the local wireless connections.
