WOW. Thank you David. That is great. I had given up on this after
Cataldo told me last night that is was not one of there ambulances and
that they had no ambulances with plate number 4031. I love Critical
Mass!

Basil

I've now spoken with the Chief Operating Officer of Cataldo, and it
appears that they have been very responsive to the incident. They were
able to identify the ambulance involved by GPS, and have already spoken
to the crew about their inappropriate behavior. They asked us to send
bicycle safety information to them for all their crews.

Last night, I was riding from Beth Isreal Hospital. I came
down Francis Rd to make a left onto Brookline Ave. I got into the left
lane and made myself visable in front of an ambulance waiting to make a
left. The light turned green. I made my left and got way over to
right on Brookline. The ambulance said over the speaker to get off the
road. At the next light I told him that I was trying to make myself
visable and stay out of his way. The light turned green he had his
right signal on but instead went straight for me nearly missing my rear
wheel. Then he drove fast too close to me. At this point I pulled over
reported his plate number 4031 to the Boston Police and then called
Cataldo Ambulance. Cataldo said they did not have any ambulances with
that plate number. I was pretty upset and may have misread the plate
number but I think it in fact was 4031. Very frustrating. I bicycle
all the time but times like these cause me to really wonder.
Especially with what happened last week on Hunting Ave. That guy just
shouldn't be driving an Ambulance at all. Imagine this is a guy who is
supposed to be for life and he's out harassing Cyclists. I hope he gets
caught before he hurts someone with that big killing machine//Ambulance.

i understand that anytime we lose a friend for completely random
and horrible reasons, it is difficult beyond belief, words, and
explanation. there is nothing that can really be said to combat or
alleviate this kind of loss - for individuals or a community.

however, i believe that this forum has brought up some really
interesting topics for bicyclists in boston & most people on the list
have done a great job of looking towards positive and productive change.
i am new to the list, action-wise, and hope to see more of the
suggestions for good work/laws/maps/anything for making biking inviting
and in-plain-sight for people in this city.

i appreciate all of the work, thoughts, actions that each person
contributing to this list, critical mass, and bicycle awareness in
general has brought to the front and center of everyone's minds this
past week or so. (save the random guy a few strings ago who clearly
shouldn't be on the list - writing about the right to open his door
whenever he wants into a bike lane).

i did not know gordon riker, but my heart & thoughts are still
with everyone who did. for the rest of us, be safe and keep working to
create positive awareness for all of us.

not that any of you actually give a shit. most of you seem to be

my friends actually knew him; knew that he biked like an
asshole. think
they're happy about him dying? fuck no.

how are you people treating this? you're using it as an example
that you
	don't understand.

like i said: we need to come up with our own laws that make
sense for folks
