[Linux-disciples] usb drives

I use a bunch of different flash drives.  It seems that each time I
plug one it, it gets assigned a 'higher and higher' mount point.  So,
my fstab is getting a little out of hand.  When we reach /dev/sde, I
usually just restart the computer and start over again with sda1.

Is there a way of resetting this escalating mountpoint without restarting?
