There should be another part of the BIOS settings where you can define the
hard drive parameters or have them autodetected (e.g., number of cylinders,
sectors, etc..) That would be the best place to check to see if the BIOS is
seeing the drive, but it looks like from your boot order list that it is
probably not seeing the drive.
The most likely problems, in decreasing order of likeliness:
(1) You don't have the hard drive plugged in properly.
(1a) Something is wrong with the hard drive connector. For example, if you
don't do things right, you can bend a pin.
(2) It is a defective hard drive.
(3) Your hard drive controller is actually broken.
(4) You have the ILOVEYOU virus.
Actually, (4) is more like (10,000).
But, yeah, I don't think this is a linux problem.
Didn't they install the new hard drive for you?
