[Linux-disciples] Question about syntax using mv

I can never quite remember to get the syntax correct on using  
commands like "mv" and "cp" etc...

I have a directory:

~/foo

foo has files in it. I want to move it and the files in it to another  
directory. What is the syntax

mv -fvr ~/foo /bar/foo

OR

mv -fvr ~/foo /bar/foo/

At the end of the operation you should have:  /bar/foo/[file1], /bar/ 
foo/[file2], etc..

I never quite get this right.
