[Linux-disciples] Xinerama troubles

I'm trying to get Xinerama running across my laptop and
desktop monitors. My boss already set up Xinerama to run
across two desktop monitors, and I know it's working, so I
just copied that portion of xorg.conf from his working
version. lspci suggests that there's just one video card on
my laptop; I assume that's the card that runs both the
laptop monitor and any monitors connected to the 15-pin
port.
Anyway, X.org is rendering two copies of my desktop, one on
each monitor; it's not doing Xinerama. Can anyone take a
look at the xorg.conf file below and suggest what the
trouble might be?
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
