Well, I think I just eliminated one possibility: the file
transfer from Ubuntu to my house worked fine. md5sum.txt
lists

3c7edac3af2b034ca01604bac41ed9f5  ./pool/main/l/linux-source-2.6.10/acpi-modules-2.6.10-5-386-di_2.6.10-34_i386.udeb

and that's the same value I get when I run md5sum against
the file itself.

I'm doing all of this through a loop-mounted ISO, which
should be able to tell me if the ISO itself is flawed,
right?

On to testing CDs ...
