[Linux-disciples] The DOM

Embarrassingly enough, I only started thinking about
learning Javascript today. I've never done JS programming,
but I have done my share of OOP stuff, so the DOM makes
sense to me. I'm looking at the DOM Level 2 spec [1] right
now, and I notice that it's four years old. There's also a
DOM Level 3 [2], and DOM Level 2 HTML [3].

What the spec documents don't say is how broadly browsers
support these levels of the DOM. CSS Level 2 support seems
fairly ubiquitous -- at least, ubiquitous enough that I
don't feel bad putting CSS2 into websites -- and I wonder
where DOM support is. Can someone tell me what spec I ought
to be coding against?

``There should be a companion book entitled
"How to Date an Asian Woman," because that's
actually something I've never done. Do I
take her out for sushi? Is that too
self-referential? Am I being some sort of
  *cultural solipsist?*''
