That's useful to know.  The main thing, though, is that I don't even want
to go into aptitude or check for new versions until the bug is fixed; and
then once it's fixed I want to upgrade immediately.

Yup.  I think apt-listbugs should be mandatory for anyone not running
stable.  An even better feature would be something where you could set
aptitude or apt-get to automatically refuse to upgrade any package with
any arbitrary bug criteria--e.g., never upgrade anything with >=1 grave
bug.
