Hmm. If the self-tests are completing without error, you might be
fine. In my experience, the only problem occurred when the self-test
would not complete. It may be that the pending/uncorrectable sector
has already been marked off limits for the purposes of the filesystem.
You just need to get it to "clear" the pending sector count.
You might try smartctl -t offline, which you have to do with the drive
unmounted, I believe.
Also, did you look through the entire output of smartctl -a? Does
"LBA" never occur in there?
This is a little bit of the blind leading the blind (or the
near-sighted leading the almost blind), so if anyone else has more of
a clue on SMART, please chime in. I've basically figured it out with
trial and error.
