[Linux-disciples] Getting my sound card to work

Are you using a custom kernel? Have you tried the Debian stock 2.6.6
kernel just to see if its something with the way you built it? Are you
moving from a 2.4.x series kernel? If so, note that sound is handled
differently in 2.6.x, and unless you have OSS emulation built in, some of
your earlier methods of accessing the sound card might not work.

What do you mean by "you can't get it to work"? Does /dev/dsp exist?
Can you access the mixer? What happens when you try to play sound?

I think it's unlikely that the IRQs are the problem. Although I know
it's possible for that to interfere, I've never actually had to do
anything with IRQs as long as I've been using Linux. Moreover, it was
working before for you, so that suggests that it should work again
without much fuss.

You might also try the Debian 'discover' package; I don't know if that
would really help, but I know it does some hardware autoconfiguration
stuff.
