VMWare knew how to recognize the USB
device node, even if Ubuntu didn't, and
even if Ubuntu couldn't figure out how
to mount it. I knew there had to be a
way to pass the device node through to
Windows. All VMWare would need to do is
pass physical-layer info on to the guest
OS. That's exactly what it did. It has
done so flawlessly. I am seriously
impressed.
Now I have a working iTunes under
Ubuntu. And it's *fast*, too.
