[Linux-disciples] Gentoo equivalent to dpkg --purge

Does anyone out there know Gentoo well enough to tell me
what the Gentoo equivalent of "dpkg --purge [packageName]"
is? Lots of scanning through the emerge(1) manpage, and lots
of Googling, led to nothing. I'm wondering if I have to
manually rm -Rf the contents of various /etc directories.

For that matter, if I want to purge all the Debian packages
that have been uninstalled, I can do

sudo dpkg --purge `dpkg --get-selections |grep deinstall |cut -f1`

I wonder if there's something equally nice for Gentoo. Does
anyone know?
