[Linux-disciples] ubuntu

I have been helping people migrate to linux through Ubuntu. The inevitable
question that comes up is "what does it mean?" I feel like an asshole saying
the official "Ubuntu is an ancient African word meaning blah, blah, blah."
Despite extensive googling, I have not been able to determine the
authenticity of the word or its origin in a more specific way. Does anyone
have access to the OEG or any other source that may be able to say what
language family the word comes from?
