Alternately, perhaps 'make configure' is calling automake, autoconf,
etc., and _then_ running the configure script. After running this
'make configure', is there a script called 'configure' in that
directory? I'm pretty sure that 'configure' is the script that should
get the '--with-mail-gid=mailman' argument.
