[Linux-disciples] What Red Hat gives back

I'm reading about some performance improvements in Fedora
Core 5

and I wonder: will these changes make their way back to
other distributions? I'm never quite clear on how
'corporate' Red Hat is, and how fully free RHEL is. Does
anyone have a better read on RH than I do?
