[Linux-disciples] Generalized command-line sound-file-info extractor

I have a bunch of WMA files, and I'd like to be able to
script the following:

1) Find any metadata inside the files, if there is any.
2) Extract the metadata into script variables.
3) Convert the files to Ogg or MP3.
4) Take the saved metadata and tag the Oggs or MP3s with it.

The various command-line utilities that I know of -- mp3id,
ogginfo -- return the metadata in different formats, so
they're hard to script against. And in any case they only
work with one format at a time.

Are there any tools to handle every kind of sound-file
metatag?
