There is a GNOME GUI frontend to dpkg-reconfigure; I think if you 
dpkg-reconfigure dpkg-reconfigure you can tell it to use the GNOME 
frontend.  You can do all package management and configuration without 
ever typing a command if that is your dream.

And gnome-cups is excellent. At least, if you think "very similar 
similar to the Windows printer administration frontend but not broken" 
is excellent.
