Yeah, I definitely thought of that.

That's probably the route I'll have to take. The kind of
virtualism I'm thinking of is the type wherein Mailman would
include a little "you may unsubscribe from Listname by
visiting foo.com/listinfo/listname" note at the bottom of
each message. And for that, I'd need different config files.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that Mailman looks in a
standard location (/etc/mailman or whatever) when it starts.
