[Linux-disciples] screen problem -- thinkpad x40

Having a strange problem with my screen after reviving it from sleep
mode. Openoffice, for example, only shows the "shell" of its window (the
menu bar and an outline of the window,. I don't see the file at all (a
bit difficult to explain without a screenshot). Also, when scrolling,
the "middle" part of the text being scrolled remains the same while the
upper and bottom parts move. I have to hit the spacebar to scroll
properly. 

This only happens after reviving it from sleep mode, and not all the
time. On occasion, scrolling functions correctly. Also, there are
programs like Evolution that allow me to see more than the shell of the
program.
