[Linux-disciples] Forcing DES with PAM

It's easy to force Linux-PAM to use MD5 passwords by
modifying /etc/pam.d/passwd and adding 'md5' to the end of
one of the 'required' lines in there. It doesn't appear,
however, that one can force DES passwords as easily. Does
anyone have any insight into requiring DES passwords from
PAM?
