It looks like I need to compile OSS into the kernel on top
of ALSA, or else my sound card doesn't work. This despite
the 'DEPRECATED' label attached to OSS within xconfig. I
gather that ALSA supersedes OSS, and that ALSA's API
replaced OSS's. Can someone explain why I need to compile
them both?
