[Linux-disciples] Installing GNOME on a new Linux box

All right: after some more frustration that presumably
stemmed from mixing stable and unstable, I restarted the
Linux install. Thus far it's entirely stable, using only apt
repositories that Debian bootstrapped from. Among the list
of possible tasks within tasksel was 'desktop environment',
which I selected; later on in the install, it asked me
whether I wanted gdm or kdm to be my display manager, and I
chose gdm. Now it's off and running with the install. Let's
see whether it gets around to configuring X, GNOME, etc.
