One other thing you should try is to create a new user on your system and
log in as that user; see if the problem persists. If not, then it is
something in your, e.g., gnome config. As new major versions are
released there are some times old settings which interfere with stuff.
Another idea would be to try any of the other gecko based
browsers--epiphany and galeon for example. That would also help you
limit down the options for the problem.
