I think all cars should be neon too.  and drivers should wear helmets.  and pedestrians should wear both also.  then lets pave the streets in spongy foam so that nobody ever gets hurt.

That's exactly what a non-biker friend of mine said as well.  The point is still valid though, that many motorist are in denial that they share the road with bikers and never think of it in terms of sharing--screaming neon or bear suit.
