Jericho Boston presents a 3-day series with Ashanti Alston, Ward Churchill, Pam Africa, Lynne Stewart and many others, to initiate a community dialogue and commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners on December 3.
Great speakers, food and music! Join us!

Saturday, December 1st
2pm (Doors open at 1:30)
Great Hall, Codman Square, Dorchester
(637 Washington St., 617-822-8300)

The Shootout

Performance artist Jihad Abdul-Mumit will present The Shootout, a two-person theater performance and workshop. The Shootout depicts the spiritual and psychological divisions that have historically ripped apart just about every semblance of unity amongst African Americans. The Shootout starts right from the beginning when Africans were snatched so violently and decisively from Mother Africa, and speaks to the many problems people in the diaspora are confronted with.

Among the root causes of violence in oppressed communities are economic exploitation, social underdevelopment and the colonial relationship between the community and those in power. CORI and other draconian laws have been passed to keep people marginalized and disenfranchised, while prison expansion and cuts in education continue.

The performance will be followed by a community dialogue and musical performances.

Sunday, December 2nd Encuentro 5
2:30-5:30pm, 33 Harrison Ave., Chinatown

Panel and community dialogue. We are honored to host:

* Ashanti Alston (former Black Liberation Army Political Prisoner)
* Edwin Cortes (former FALN Prisoner of War)
* Jihad Abdul-Mumit (former Black Liberation Army Political Prisoner)
* Pam Africa (MOVE! Organization, ICFFMAJ)
* Dhoruba bin-Wahad (ex-Black Panther Party political prisoner)
* Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner
* Ward Churchill (American Indian Movement, Author)

Our guests will speak about their own struggle and their people's struggle to overcome the fierce repression unleashed on them due to their fight for self determination and freedom from oppression. Many of the root causes of economic exploitation and social underdevelopment which were in place at the height of popular movements like the American Indian Movement, the Macheteros and the Black Panthers still affect our communities today.

Let us remember and honor not only the political prisoners held in the US for fighting these injustices, but also those being held everywhere in the world- in places like Palestine, Turkey, the Basque Country, Mexico, South Africa and the Philippines to name a few.

Join with us to strategize to bring our freedom fighters home and liberate our communities!

Lynne has spent the last few decades defending a wide range of politically sensitive defendants, including many of today's US political prisoners. She faces serious prison time herself due to this work, pending an upcoming appeal, and needs the support of all who care about principled legal work to emerge successful.

Please join us in celebrating Lynne's career, eat some delicious home-cooked food, and give generously to her defense fund!
