Please don't ride your bike in the door zone. Legalities aside, it's
just not safe. You are far more likely to get hit in the door zone than
if you are well into the travel lane.
If you want to encourage other traffic to pass you with plenty of room,
try getting one of those orange flags and sticking it out the side to
the left. It works really well for me. A trailer with a giant stuffed
gorrilla works wonders too. I ride in the middle of the travel lane,
and get lots of happy comments and smiles, and plenty of space.
