MassBike Seeks Development Associate


MassBike—Massachusetts’ statewide bicycling advocacy group—seeks a full-time
Development Associate. We are looking for a responsible, driven, and
well-spoken candidate to help grow MassBike’s membership and funding base.
Areas of responsibility include membership, event planning, grant-writing,
bike shop and business partner outreach, and direct mail. Previous
fundraising experience and familiarity with cycling community are a plus,
but not required. Talented recent grads are encouraged to apply. Salary:
$24,000/year, plus health insurance; salary review after six months. One
year minimum commitment required. Must be able to work some nights and
weekends. Start date: Late July/early August. Please send resume and cover

Key Measures of Success Include:

  a.. Membership Dollars Generated—methods include direct outreach (tabling,
events); direct mail; timely fulfillment and processing of memberships and
donations; and efficient mailing of membership renewal notices. Involves
coordination of interns and volunteers to assist with tasks.
  b.. Assistance with Major Donor Cultivation—Provide coordination and
support to board and executive director regarding outreach and tracking.
  c.. Dollars Generated from Winter/Summer Appeal—Supervision of
mailing/production process; efficient response to donations. Involves
coordination of interns and volunteers.
  d.. Corporate Contribution Success—Meet budget numbers by outreach to:
ride clubs, charity rides, bike shops, other business partners. Assist with
advertisement sales/placement in quarterly newsletter.
  e.. Event Dollars Generated—Take responsibility for various aspects of
event planning regarding Bike Festival and Bike Night, especially Bike Night
Silent Auction. Procure volunteers for events. Work with House Party hosts
to ensure successful series.
  f.. Grants—Write grant applications.
  g.. Merchandise Sales—Work with bike shops to carry MassBike paraphernalia
and sell in bulk.
  h.. Assist Executive Director with other tasks on an as-needed basis.
