[*BCM*] What about the bikes?

If I might chime in... I wasn't there... and the letter was quite nice and very
respectful, however in my past experience with CM's in Boston and DC that
police say not to break the law "don't run reds, stop at stops" etc... then
promote that very activity by blocking traffic at red lights and commanding
that the cyclists continue. It is my understanding the NYPD did the same last
Friday... it creates a contradiction -- if you stop at a red light, what
happens? In Boston I was called an asshole and told to run the redlight... so
what do you do when the police ask you not to break the law and then, through
their own actions, promote that you break the law? Just a thought.

* =v= The police sent a letter to Transportation Alternatives,
* NYC's inside-the-system advocacy group that has nothing to do
* with Critical Mass. We have a scan of that letter:

* They basically wanted TA to warn their members, and TA sent
* out a "be a bicycle ambassador" email.
