2004 MassBike Festival a Huge Success!

Thanks to the more than 200 cyclists who came out on Saturday to enjoy
MassBike’s Second Annual Bike Festival. With your help, we beat the heat
with our fun Ice Cream ride, which stopped at 3 ice cream stands, and made
this the most successful MassBike event ever! We do have a lost and found
from the event: two people left their helmets, and we found two pairs of
kids’ shoes. If you think they may be yours, email bikeinfo at massbike.org. We
’ll look forward to seeing you at next year’s Festival!

MassBike has just learned that cyclist and environmental leader Doug

the Conservation Law Foundation—will be our keynote speaker at the 5th
Annual Bike Night Celebration on Monday, October 18. We’ll be gathering from
6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ryles in Cambridge. Reserve your space now! Award
recipients at this fun event will include prominent comedian Jimmy Tingle
and State Senator Jarrett Barrios. Tickets are only $25, and of course
bicycle valet parking is included!

More for Your Membership: New MassBike Partners

In the past month, we’ve partnered with four new bike shops and four new
B&Bs, which are offering discounts of 10% or more to MassBike members!
Please support our new bike shop friends at Dave’s Bike Infirmary in Milton;

Help Bike Night: Be a Sponsor, or Donate to Our Silent Auction

Are you an artist, massage therapist, landscaper, bike shop owner, or anyone
else who supports bicycling? Please consider raising awareness about your
business by donating your services or new bike-related items for our Bike
Night silent auction. Your tax-deductible contribution will be
much-appreciated. Please email mike at massbike.org with questions or
information about your donation.
Would you like to help MassBike take the next step forward? Sign up to be a
sponsor of the event at the $1000, $500, $250, $100 level. Even an extra $25
or $50 helps cycling advocacy immeasurably! Please contact mike at massbike.org
with questions, or

MassBike Needs a Roommate

Would you like reasonably-priced office space near Boston’s Public Garden?
More importantly, would you like to be MassBike’s new roommate? We’re
looking to share space starting January 1st with an independent professional
(CPA, lawyer, etc.) or other small non-profit. If you have 1-2 staffers,
that’s about the right size. Your share of the rent would be $700/month
including utilities; earlier move-in dates negotiable. Email
bikexec at massbike.org with your interest or for more information.

Miscellaneous

Volunteer needed: Do you know Quick Books 2004 and bookkeeping upside-down?
Would you be willing to come in for an hour or two and tutor our staff? If
so, please email bikexec at massbike.org .

The American Lung Association’s Autumn Escape Bike Trek (September 17-19) is
still seeking volunteers. For more information, please contact Carolyn
Whipple at 508-947-7204 or email biketrek at ala-ma.org.

Kudos to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, which has helped
arrange a special dollar-off deal for bicyclists at the Hopkinton, NH State
Fair September 2-6. If you’re interested in going,
