It's also worth talking to Walter Neumann (neumann at math.columbia.edu)
and Oliver Goodman (oag at ms.unimelb.edu.au). They are the developers
of Snap, hosted at http://sourceforge.net/projects/snap-pari/ . I'm
not sure how active that project is.

That's a good idea. John Morgan is leaving Columbia to be the
founding director of the Simons institute; I could approach him.
