3. Bike-to-Work Week, May 12-16 <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=HpRYM8ThgpnJ2J1QsaWoDA..>
Coordinated by the League of American Bicyclists (who just concluded a very successful 2008 Bike Summit <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=dNEL-131bxrqrancA0pNLA..> in Washington, D.C.), this classic event encourages a day of bicycle commuting for first-timers and experienced riders alike. While Bike-to-Work Day is unofficially May 16, many communities choose to hold their events on another day that week.
The January 2008 Active Transportation Newsletter <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=aFn6Hgs8u_VY6eYNnAd8yA..> suggests a plan for organizing around Bike-to-Work Day to promote your campaign activities and efforts. Whether or not you follow this suggested agenda, Bike-to-Work Day is an outstanding opportunity to organize and gather support for local campaign activities.
The League of American Bicyclists Web page <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=CZ2NaLitofu8tmIgMJJDtA..> contains several Bike-to-Work references, including special events <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=a_waiUcmdTGsWvtiBFVJpw..>, promotional materials <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=FGzxp0CiKmGIhxInpo8CIw..> and PSA examples <http://support.railstotrails.org/site/R?i=ohPszfKH5firp7xG5gc8EQ..> from past years if you are interested in airing a local PSA.
