LOWELL STREET GREEN LINE STATION MEETING
As you may know, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is under a court
order to extend the Green Line rapid transit system from the Lechmere
section of Cambridge through Somerville and onto Medford. This
proposed route of the Green Line extension is along the existing right
of way of the Lowell commuter rail line that runs through our
neighborhood. In June 2008, the Executive Office of Transportation
announced the plans for the station locations along the extension.
The station location in our neighborhood is adjacent to the Lowell
Street Bridge.
Representatives from the Massachusetts Executive Office of
Transportation have agreed to attend a neighborhood meeting for the
residents and other interested parties concerning the Lowell Street
MBTA station on the Green Line. The purpose of this meeting is to
discuss the specifics of the Lowell Street station and its potential
impact on our neighborhood.
