The City of Cambridge allows bike lanes to be established and defines them as:

BIKE LANE
A lane on a street restricted to bicycles and so designated by means of pavement coloring, lines or other appropriate markings.

The Ordinance (http://www.cambridgema.gov/CityOfCambridge_Content/documents/tpat_regulations_sept_2007.pdf) does not contain a specific ordinance provision related to cars driving in bike lanes.

Here's CA and OR laws related to bike lanes..

 <<CA & Oregon Laws.doc>>

We can talk more about the appropriate approach at the next bike committee meeting..
