At our monthly meeting yesterday, the Somerville Bicycle Committee
reluctantly decided that we would like to plan the October Tour de
Somerville by ourselves rather than doing the proposed 'When the Bell
Rang' school-related ride. Perhaps we can try to do that again
next May, provided that we all do a *lot* of work on it in the meantime.

I understand. Any idea what the theme for this October's ride will be?

Either "visit as many bicycle facilities as possible" (bike path, new bike
lanes,
etc) or "explore all the edges and boundaries of the city", or some
combination
thereof.
I'm a big fan of the second idea, which would take us through Boynton Yards,
Brickbottom, Inner Belt, Draw Seven, Assembly Square, Ten Hills, Tufts
University,
the Alewife-Mystic parkway near Route 16 and Boston Avenue, and perhaps
Matignon
High School and/or St. Paul's Cemetery in neighboring Arlington.
