A message from Vanessa Rule (beckrule at rcn.com) about the Sustainabilty Scavenger Hunt.
Dear Artbeat participants,
As you have heard, a few of us are organization a scavenger hunt for Artbeat to highlight how the work of community organizations is making Somerville a more sustainable community. To be clear, we define sustainability as:
"the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."[1] <x-msg://9/>
[1] <x-msg://9/> United Nations. 1987. "Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development." General Assembly Resolution 42/187, 11 December 1987. Retrieved: 2007-04-12
If you are interested, here are more definitions <http://www.ecy.wa.gov/Sustainability/more_defns.htm>
If you would like to participate in the savenger hunt, here's what to do:
1) Let me know as soon as possible so I know how many participants we have.
2) By next Thursday at 12:00pm at the latest, come up with a short paragraph (no more than a few sentences) explaining how your organization's work advances Somerville's sustainability.
3) Scavenger hunters will be given a question for each organization (not knowing which question belongs to which organization). Answering the question will lead them to your table. Once they get to your table, they will see your statement on how you advance Somerville's sustainability and they will get a stamp showing that they visited your table.
4) Once they have answered five questions correctly they will come back to the starting point and get a free compact fluorescent lightbulb (we're working on getting some donated) as well as get to enter their name in a drawing for dinner at a local eatery.
Thanks!
Vanessa Rule
