  I know of only two ways to install the marked lanes that you showed  in 
pictures. One is as you said is to lay the road way in sections with a pre  
colored asphalt.That is very expensive and would require the removal of the  
surface in place now. The other involves etching and then a dye over the  surface.
 
 A few new systems have come on market recently but I am not familiar  with 
them and what sort of durability they have over time. Paint is a  non-starter 
as it would become very slick in rain if not put down  correctly. I would 
suggest contacting Terri Smith at Traffic and Parking as he  is very familiar with 
various road way markings.
