Subject: City Report for April 17,2007

Here's my regular city report:

O. Urban Core Study - No Report

1. Status of committee memberships:  I have asked Mike Lambert of the
Mayor's office the status of re-appointments. Also the Mayor's office has
been in contact with Darren Wallach. 

2. Somerville Community Path: 

a. Davis Square: Met with Alderman Gerwirtz and Traffic and Parking to
discuss latest alternatives for the area. A presentation will be made to the
Davis Square Task Force on April 30th. 

  b. Cedar to Central: Brownfields Grant has been submitted. EPA New England
has recommended the project to EPA HQ. Final word should be out by late
April Early May. City committed an additional $40,00 in funds to match any
EPA grant. 

Brownfields assessment part 2 should be started soon. Plan is to go to BOA
to accept land in May. I will let people know.. 

Further review of 25% design to Central will await Green Line Environmental
Review and 25% design. Tufts Students report on  Ball Square will be
presented on April 24th in the morning if anyone is interested.   

c.	School to Cambridge: No progress.  MBTA has issues RFP for
Environmental Impact Report consultant. 

d.	Max Pack:Significant progress in incorporating Steering and Bike
Committee concerns in Land Disposition Agreement 

e.	Other: I am attending a Rails to Trails meeting to discuss future
strategies to fund trails. 

3. Davis Square Bike Route signs: Groundwork starting on way-finding signs..


4. Safe-START: No word on funding. BOA follow-up meeting in the works

5. Mystic River Paths

			*	April 24th set for date of DCR meeting on
Mystic River Crossing / Meeting at Winter Hill Yacht Club at 6:30 PM. 

6. MAPC Bike Rack Program: Meeting with Janice Delory on progra. 
 
7. Assembly Square:
		a.	PUD -  
		b.	Retenanting of the Mall - They are installing 6 new
"wave racks" . In total 14 bikes can be accomodated. 
		c.	MEPA Review: Comments include encouraging a bicycle
service center.. 

8. Active Living: Nicole Rioles continues to work with Walk Boston on
walking maps. 

9. Eastern Mystic River Coalition: Coalition continues to meet on issues
concerning development and planning of the Water front. 

10. Road Projects. 
Somerville Ave: Starting May 1st
Beacon Street: Postponed until 2010 TIP.
East Broadway: Some work at Lombardi as part of IKEA effort 
	School Street Bike Lanes: ???

11. DCR - Alewife Brook Trail:   No Report

12. MA Central / East Coast Greenway Route from Boston north: No Report 

13. Shape-up Somerville: Annual meeting June 12 to 15th. If anyone's
interested in attending.. let me know

14. Kiwanis - Bike Fair on May 19th...
