[SBC] Vernon Street; KSS/MaxPak zoning

I went to the Traffic Commission hearing regarding Vernon Street.
Almost all of the neighbors present, as well as some who submitted
written statements, supported keeping the street two-way. I made a
short statement, as a Bicycle Committee member, in favor of keeping
it two-way, pointing out that it is a major east-west bicycle route
from the Community Path to Winter Hill. The Commission unanimously
voted to keep it two-way.

After the meeting, I talked to Joe Lynch of the Magoun Square
Neighborhood Association. He told me that although his
organization's members supported the proposed PUD zoning for the KSS-
MaxPak property, other residents of "the Patch" (Clyde and Warwick
Street area) opposed it. As a result, Alderman Sean O'Donovan is
withdrawing the zoning proposal tonight. Lynch was not happy about
this, and feels that any "as of right" development permitted by
current zoning will provide far less mitigation to the community than
KSS's proposal.
