Subject: world carfree day
Hi Ron and Alan,
I've just proposed that STEP start acknowledging international World
Carfree Day (22 Sept). Seems like natural for bike groupsand other
local alt-transportation groups to participate in too.
I'm amazed that only a handful of US cities participate (Portland Ore,
Boulder, etc.). I'm also amazed that I'd never head of it until this
year.
We will be discussing what STEP can do for this year at our next STEP
meeting
(24 July).

It would be great if Somerville or Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area
could be official
participants in 2007, but we could start the effort now. What we can do
for this year is scalable => getting it on the radar of all local
alt-trans/enviromental/bike/ped groups.
What do you think? Is this something that the Somerville Bike
Committee could support?
