[Linux-disciples] xinetd vs. tcpserver

Can somebody explain to me the difference between xinetd and tcpserver?
As I understand it, they basically do the same thing. But I have some
programs that use xinetd, and some use that use tcpserver. Some can use
both, and this is becoming problematic because some programs are
stepping on itself (trying to bind to the same port twice), aside from
it being very confusing to little old me. Is one better than the
other? Can/Should I convert all my applications to use one or the other?

Thanks,
Brian
