[Linux-disciples] Finding files that don't have a certain extension

I'm looking for a way to structure my 'find' command in either of two
ways:

1) find all files that *don't* match a given pattern, or
2) much less generally: find all files that do not have an extension
(i.e., their name is not '*.*').

I assume 2) is just a standard regex. In Perl, it'd be something like
'[^\.]*', but there are too many varieties of regex to count and I can't
figure out what's not working when I try that here.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve
