<p>Cambridge
police arrested a drunken Somerville man after he allegedly rode
through the streets near MIT, kicking cars and smashing the window of
one car with his bike.</p><div>Police said a bystander confronted the car-bashing bicyclist and he allegedly punched the bystander.</div>
<div>Brian REDACTED, 40, of 106 Sycamore St. in Somerville was arrested
at Mass. Ave. and Osborn Street and charged with malicious destruction
of property over $250 and assault and battery.</div>
<div>Police responded to a 911 call at the intersection of Mass. Ave.
and Albany Street just after 11 p.m. July 30 and found REDACTED fighting
in the middle of Osborn Street with a 32-year-old Quincy man.</div>
<div>The Quincy man reported he was standing outside the Paradise bar
when two of his friends pointed to REDACTED and reported he had just
smashed the window of a parked car they were sitting inside. That’s
when he allegedly noticed REDACTED kicking several other cars on the
street and chased after REDACTED on Albany Street to Osborn Street.</div>
<div>When the Quincy man asked REDACTED why he smashed the car window,
REDACTED allegedly threatened him and told him he was going to “kick his
a—,” according to police reports.</div>
<div>REDACTED, who police said smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his
feet, also allegedly punched the Quincy man in the face and the Quincy
man held REDACTED until police arrived, according to reports.</div>
<div>The Quincy man’s two friends told police they were sitting in the
front seat of the car when they noticed REDACTED stop his yellow bicycle
next to the car.</div>
<div>REDACTED allegedly leaned on the motor vehicle and began to bang on
the front of the car. When one friend asked REDACTED to stop, REDACTED
allegedly began yelling and swearing at the two men and punched the
passenger’s window.</div>
<div>The hit did not break the window, but then REDACTED allegedly picked
up his bicycle and smashed it against the window, shattering the glass
and denting and scratching the passenger’s side door and back of the
car, according to police reports.</div>
<div>The two men ran to find their friend, report the damage to the
car’s owner — a 64-year-old Malden man — and called 911 to report the
incident to police.</div>
<div>REDACTED told police the men attacked him and he wanted to leave.
Police said REDACTED refused to answer any questions. Police seized
REDACTED’s bike as evidence.</div>
