Two things regarding this topic: First, it was my understanding that one of the main tenets of Critical Mass was that it didn't have a purpose or any discernable leaders. The idea is that it just "happens." While I don't oppose the cause, I think putting it under the heading of Critical Mass may be against the original purposes of CM. Perhaps you could organize a separate ride on the day it actually hit.
<br><br>Second, to Derek, are you serious with this comment? You do realize that hundreds of thousands of people lost their homes and many their lives. The coincidence that it's also your birthday isn't a particular reason to feel sad, and were I personally affected by Katrina (any more than anyone else who didn't know wnyone there) I would probably be offended by your statement.
