size=3>The U.S. Senate has started debating the federal transportation bill
(passed in March by the House of Representatives). Tomorrow, Iowa Senator Tom
Harkin is expected to introduce a “Complete Streets” amendment to the bill,
which would make it federal law that bicyclists and pedestrians must be
accommodated on streets and highways (due to the work of State Rep. Anne Paulsen
and MassBike, this has been Massachusetts law since 1996, but only two other
states in the country have this provision). </FONT></P>

face="Times New Roman">It’s nearly time for the 21<SUP>st</SUP> annual
Boston-to-Provincetown ride, sponsored by Outriders and held on June 18. This is
a one-day, 128 mile ride organized by gay and lesbian riders and their allies.
Volunteers get a free t-shirt and delicious brunch.<SPAN
