This months May 2009 Bicycling Magazine is a must buy/read for anyone 
who wants to see bicycling promoted as an Alternative form of 
Transportation. Topics include: 

New Column "WE FIGHT FOR YOUR ROAD RIGHTS" This month covers the issue 
of bicyclists going through stop signs and red lights. (A hard pill to swallow, but am still glad 
that they use the word FIGHT and not "SMILE AND TURN THE OTHER CHEEK 
WHILE YOU GET SCREWED"). 

"THE BIKE SNOB" A NYC cyclist suggests a conspiracy behind the notion 
of May as Bike month (I always thought it should be in January). 

THE RE-CYCLER , Joe Six Pack builds over 60 bikes from parts he finds 
in recycling bins and gets from his friends/neighbors. 

ELECTRIC AVENUE, E-bikes making a comeback, again, (this time because 
of Li-polymer batteries not mentioned) and the issue of shared use in 
bike lanes is addressed. 

JOE MADDON, The baseball coach who took the basement level Tampa Bay 
Rays to the World Series did his most creative thinking while on a 
bicycle. Look for him on the Charles River paths when he is in Boston. 

CASUAL FLYERS, An in depth review (means they actually rode the bikes) 
of full blown Euro Style vehicles including an ANT creation and the 
Electra Townie Sport 105 which is as close to a recumbant you can get 
without looking like your retired. 

MYSTERIOUS NOISE, Finally a step by step cure for that squeaking bottom bracket. 

In conclusion, I commend Bicycling Magazine for their excellent 
editorial picks, devotion to this cause and awareness of many of the 
issues involved in making Bicycling as Transportation a reality. All 
this and they didn't have to resort to advertising starved females in 
Lycra or buxom females straddling a Carbon frame bike to pay for the 
talented staff. There's even an automobile advertisement on the back 
for Subaru without a photo of a car!
