LOCAL ENVIRO ORGS

TWO AMAZING EVENTS IN ONE DAY: The Bikes Not Bombs Green Roots Festival will
celebrate sustainable urban living in a park that was only saved from
becoming a highway by the grassroots efforts of local communities. Cheer
heroic Bike-A-Thon riders (or be one yourself) as they return from their
ride to an outdoor party-

SO, HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE, whether you're dancing, volunteering, tabling
at the festival, cheering the riders, or crossing the heroic finish line!

BY THE BY,
It's not too late to register----

CALLING ALL BIKE RIDERS: Ride with Bikes Not Bombs (BNB) to support its
unique social justice work recycling 6,000 bicycles annually with programs
here in Boston and nations of the Global South, empowering people and
communities with sustainable and healthy pedal-power. As a grassroots
organization, BNB depends on Bike-A-Thon riders’ sponsorship to keep its
work going in its 25th year.

Choose from three scenic rides: 15, 25, or 62 miles. Roll at your own pace;
the 15-miler is especially great for families with children. We provide
mechanics check-ups, rest stops with food and drink, maps of the beautiful
routes, lead riders, support vehicles, a gourmet meal at the Green Roots
Festival, and great prizes. Pre-registration is required, and riders must
raise a minimum of $150 of pledges for BNB. Check www.bikesnotbombs.org for
a schedule of training rides and other pre-Bike-A-Thon events for registered
riders. Register at our website—www.bikesnotbombs.org—or call 617-522-0222.

We are excited to embrace another year of concrete efforts that promote
bicycle usage, peace and sustainable development!

Mission Statement: Lasting peace and social justice require equitable and
sustainable use of resources. BNB provides community-based education and
assists development projects with recycled bicycles, related technologies
and technical assistance, as concrete alternatives to the militarism,
over-consumption & inequality that breed war and environmental destruction.
Our organization is part of a worldwide movement for peace and responsible
stewardship of the earth.

---------------------

Bikes Not Bombs promotes bicycle technology as a concrete alternative to war
and environmental destruction. For 25 years, BNB has been a nexus of bike
recycling and community empowerment both in lower income neighborhoods of
Boston and in the nations of the Global South. BNB's programs involve young
people and adults in mutually respectful leadership development and
environmental stewardship, while recycling 6,000 bicycles annually.
