Cambridge Bicycle Committee 3rd Bow Tie Ride
Sunday, October 5, 10:15 a.m. at Cambridge Common
Did you know that the City of Cambridge is shaped like a bowtie? Join the Cambridge Bike Committee for a 14.5 scenic bike tour that circles Cambridge’s eastern perimeter and loops around the western border. The ride will stop at the Cambridge Minuteman gateway near the Alewife T station for the kickoff of the Minuteman celebration (see info below). This will be a gorgeous Autumn ride, at an easy pace on mostly level terrain. For those looking for a shorter ride, join up at the half-way stop at 11:30 a.m. at Longfellow Park. Like all our tours, this ride is free of charge. Wear a bowtie or come as you are! There is no rain date, though heavy rain will cancel this event. Rain announcements will be posted on the morning of the ride. For more information, visit http://www.cambridgebikes.org.
Minuteman Bikeway Celebration Sunday, Oct. 5, Noon, across from Alewife Station.
Join us in celebrating the Minuteman Bikeway's induction into the national Rail-Trail Hall of Fame, with special events and activities along the bikeway. This year, the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy named the Minuteman Bikeway as the fifth inductee to the national Rail-Trail Hall of Fame. Built 15 years ago, the Minuteman Bikeway remains one of the most popular rail-trails in America; it is also a significant urban greenway, abutting public parks and conservations lands. To celebrate this exciting occasion, the communities of Cambridge, A
rlington, Lexington and Bedford are sponsoring a day-long celebration along the Minuteman Bikeway. Cambridge kicks off the festivities at Noon, at Minuteman Bikeway entry across from Alewife Station. For more information, including rain cancellation, visit: www.minutemanbikeway.org/Pages/celebration_oct2008.html.
