[*BCM*] tonight's ride

I wasn't at the ride, but here's my two cents, if you don't mind.

I agree that we need to afford equality to cyclists on the road.

But, Critical Mass isn't going to gain much until it wins the ordinary streets first...which, as we all know, has yet to happen. Once we feel free, safe, and respected on low-speed roads, maybe, just maybe, it will be appropriate to go on Storrow Drive. Until then, fight battles you can win.

It' scary and dangerous to drive my car on Storrow Drive, let alone a bicycle. Do you know how many near-MVA's I've been on that monstrosity? Yes, Storrow Drive has crazy drivers that need to be put in their place. But, at this point in time, it's not Critical Mass's place to do that! If you want to endanger your own life by cruising down Storrow Drive, that's your prerogative. But, please, to the leaders at the front, don't endanger everyone else behind you. The people behind you should have their trust in leaders who have everyone's safety in mind, who are experts in safe cycling.

Best,
Alek

Anne, I was thinking the exact thing about someone "ploughing into the back of the group." You've got it right.
