[*BCM*] Bostoncriticalmass Digest, Vol 40, Issue 11

Dan,

Definitely. Like I had mentioned, it was on the corner of Mass Ave
and Malborough Street.
In regards to what it was lock up to, it was a a maturing tree; I
would say at least 5 inches in diameter. No damage was done to the
tree and it would not have been possible to have lifted the bike over
the branches etc etc.

I used a Kryptonite KC IV which is one of those "rope" locks. I know
it wasnt a U lock, but my friend who works at a bike shop thought it
was safe enough for BU campus. He suspects that some pros worked the
street because the bolt cutter used would not be something some joe
schmoe would be walking around with. The theft was on Thursday of
last week and it was around 9-10pm. There was no lock left behind
nor was there damage to the tree. I believe there was a massive raid
in the BU Bay State Road area as I did notice some remnants of bikes
on Friday morning. They must have been in some van.

Thanks for the tip about local University pds selling bikes. I
actually picked up a very cheap bike, it should last me through the
year.

****best news for everyone: if your Kryptonite gets broken into,
call Kryptonite and they will send you a new one free of charge as
long as you can provide the keys, police report, lock if you have it
in some form, receipt of the lock purchase and the packaging of the
lock.

Hope you wont have the poor luck I had.
